Journal-Lane Question for 1/22/2010: Skipping a Payment

Ponder this question for today. Write it down in a journal to pass on to family members once you're gone.

You can post it here, or in your own journal book.

Have a great day.

1/22/2010: Sometimes, a vendor will let you “skip a payment”, say on your home mortgage or a credit card. What do you do and why?

When my kids were very young, and we did not have surplus money, there were times I took advantage of this.

But as life got better, I stopped. And now, I never do this.

Mainly, I did not want to extend my mortgage loan, and possibly pay additional interest on it.

And with credit cards, they may offer it as “penalty-free”, but I can still be hit with finance charges and piled-on interest. If I considered their offer at all, I would at least pay the minimum due.
